April Blogging Challenge Day 26: A Pin I’ve Tried {+ A GIVEAWAY}

Pins

I have a confession to make.  Guys, I think I am obsessed with Pinterest!  I’ve got so many pins saved!  However, I’m pretty good at trying them out – not so much with reorganizing my pins though…

I wasn’t really sure which one of the pins I’ve tried over the past month I would feature on this post, but I finally decided to go with this one.  It was the one I mentioned in my April goals post at the beginning of the month.

To be honest, it was the perfect pin to do because, as you may or may not know, Monday was Earth Day and what better way to celebrate it than to sew some reusable cloth snack bags?!  Another plus was that Charles’ school was celebrating Earth Day on Wednesday and parents were encouraged to send their child to school with a zero-waste lunch.  How cool is that?!

So, I decided to get Charles involved and we tried the pattern together.  He found it particularly amusing to press on the pedal.

I was pretty happy with the final product, it does indeed make a perfect snack bag.  But I decided to tweak the pattern (just changed the dimensions to 18.5″ by 9″ and left a lip of about 2.5″) to make a bag big enough to contain a sandwich.  I was super happy because I succeeded, woohoo!  It’s a big bigger than a Ziploc sandwich bag too, which is nice.

I’m really happy about this pattern because it comes together so quickly!  I also like the fact that it doesn’t require any velcro, press buttons or zippers, it’s literally just fabric and thread.  Judging by the way the snack bag came out of the wash, I can also attest that they are easy to wash and keep their shape nicely after going through both the washing machine and dryer.

And now, the exciting part:

I’m giving away this pair!
